Stop Telling Celebrities to Shut Up

Recently, I’ve seen a lot of tweets and facebook posts from folks on the Republican side telling celebrities to “Shut up, nobody wants to hear your political opinions. You’re just an actor, do your job and keep your political opinions to yourself!”. First of all, you need to realize that actors, celebrities, recording artists, and authors are full fledged human beings…they have every right to their political opinions, just like you have the right to yours. If you don’t want to hear their opinions then don’t listen.

The audacity to think that because someone is a celebrity, that they somehow matter less or that they are somehow less of a person because of their job is ludicrous.

We all must be afforded the opportunity to speak our minds. It doesn’t matter if you are rich, poor, Republican, Democrat, Independent, immigrant, gay, straight, black, white, Hispanic, Asian…whatever, we all deserve to have our voices heard. That’s one of the great things about America, you have the freedom to speak.

Because I Can’t Even…

Today is Inauguration Day. I’m filled with such anger, worry, and sadness that I refuse to even think about Twittler today and so instead today I’m only posting positive things. Rest assured that tomorrow I’ll resume my posting about his many downfalls, but today I can’t even.

So here’s some things that make me smile:

The Overwatch community continues to surprise and delight me. This tribute to a fallen player is both moving and a terrific way to pay tribute to their lost friend.

Craven Reporters Scold BuzzFeed For Reporting News

Seems like the MSM is having a bit of a tiff over this. Half seem to want to suck up to Trump and scold BuzzFeed for reporting on a document that’s been knocking around DC for at least a month, and the other half supports BuzzFeed.

Listen up reporters! Get your shit together. Don’t start infighting. Trump will furnish you with ample opportunities over the coming months and years to report on his many problems, conflicts, and mistakes. Do not give in to him and start attacking each other.

Trump’s Ongoing War With Journalists

Trump calls CNN ‘fake news’ and BuzzFeed ‘garbage’ during press conference

Trump continues to be at war with journalists, in his first press conference in 167 days he refused to take questions from CNN saying “Not you. Your organization is terrible,” Trump said. “I’m not going to give you a question, you are fake news.” Later he called BuzzFeed a “failing pile of garbage” and said the publication would “suffer the consequences” for publishing the unconfirmed report.

I have a feeling that the freedom of the press is about to get put on restriction.

Hack Kayla Vas has to make up news instead of reporting on facts.

Here’s the FAKE tweet.

But as Twitter user Erik Patterson points out, the clip of Streep actually comes from the July 27, 2009 episode of The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. She was promoting her film Julie & Julia and she was actually talking about filming with a lion in the 1985 film Out of Africa.
